Bro,

I just tripped over this cool sound from a chap who lives in California where the trees have names...wait, it's you, Bingo. So, I discovered you, Bingo, during my eternal search for new sounds. I found Bingo was familiar. It turns out that I used to walk the halls with Bingo in the presence of Andy Griffith and Barney Fife. Not only did Bingo introduce me to Deep Ellum Blues, but he also introduced me to YES-Tormato on an old vinyl spinner. Bingo taught me how to play "Dust in the Wind" in a Chase basement. I'm glad I met you Bingo because it reacquainted me with an older fella I knew a long time ago with a top like Billy Idol and a wit like Steve Martin.

Glad you're alive Bingo. Keep doing what feels good.

An old (I mean old) friend from the homeland.

Hey Brother,

I love the new tune. Only heard it once and it was already stuck in my head. (Listened to it 4 times already since then.) Tasty horn arrangement, too - tell Paul rat own and buy that man a Heinie.

Hey Man,

Dig it - I corrected Stephen Hawking in front of god & Everybody. That can't be a good sign, can it? Mmm. On his Myspace page he said that he liked John ColtrAIN. I was really glad to learn that and I hated to put the slapdown on him, but I couldn't let the Coltrane thing go, either, y'know? I feel terrible, the poor little guy.

But that's not why I'm writing today, Professor. Just wanted to say I love the new song! I've only heard it once and it's already stuck in my head. Niiiice.

I'm going to write Hawking back and suggest he scope your tunage. Maybe he'll find it in his heart to forgive me.

Only the first 2 cuts are on the Products page. Wussup widdat? Don't make me come down there, man.

We live in the North Bay area of San Francisco (in the Sonoma Valley area-Wine Country) and hope to see you on a bill soon. Maybe our bill. We throw a big party with bands every year at our house during the summer. Ya'll interested in making it up here? There's numerous bars, pubs, clubs, etc. to play in towns like Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Petaluma, Mill Valley, Russian River area, etc. Anyhow, really, really enjoyed seeing you and we look forward to hearing you again. Way back in 1987 I had a dear friend with whom I shared some great times in Wichita, Kansas. I always wondered where he ended up. I considered him, at the time, to be the most beautifully creative spirit I had ever met. I didn't tell him this at the time because I was still a small-minded Wichita boy.
Almost 20 years later, after spending time in Boston, San Diego, and now Phoenix, I am happy to say that my world has expanded. I am happy to finally tell you that you are a truly beautiful person Kevin. To learn of your current endeavors brings a broad smile to my face. I remember our friendship fondly. I'm sorry that I was too small to tell you how much I admired you while I still had the chance to do it in person!

Hey Bing, I'm seeing the Madrid date, but I'm not seeing any Montana dates. What gives? Nah, kidding, I've already done the 'mapquest' on the trip, and it doesnt look good (looks great without an infant, about 16 hours)...

Just missin ya', listening to an old "Bite" show from 03' as I type.

We do have a couple excellent venues to play at here; one, in the summer (its -20 today without any windchill factors) that is tucked in amongst some massive peaks, just outside of Y'stone park, that bands play around a fire pit for 'a couple 100 people' I am told. I am setting up a gig there for Uncle Snock in June...just trying to make you think about a little high mountain vacation/tour...dreaming over here. See ya in Portland otherwise!

reply to Kris:

Hi Kris.
The HooDoo Bash was written by Antonia and Peter Stampfel and was a song played by the Holy Modal Rounders. All of the rooms at the White Eagle are named after 'Rounder tunes. HooDoo Bash is room 5. I just stayed there myself not long ago. Didn't have any haint visitation, personally.
From what I gather, another room there has a spirit as well.. the Happy Rolling Cowboy room long ago was the scene of a murder. Things were different in the early days of Portland; upstairs at the Eagle was a brothel. There is more information about the place at the McMenamin's website. I'm glad you like the song. It has been a favorite of mine for a while, although I seldom perform it...only when the spirit moves me.
hope to see you soon.

So glad to have caught your set at the Thirst on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I'm always grateful to hear you play. Especially want to thank you for dance tunes that night. I love when music takes me to that ego-less dancing-with-joy place! Blessings to you.
Gots a Question -- you sang about the HooDoo; is that a reference to the room at the White Eagle? If so, then you might be interested to know when I stayed in that room for Halloween this year I had a visit from a male spirit. Told him I'd had a great time as many others had, thanked it for sharing space with us and wished it well. Later, when I was deep asleep, I woke with a start to that spirit pulling on my ankle. Jokester! Like coyote! Staff says that spirit is the man who died there. So, just curious, is your Hoodoo song about the room??
